Alabama basketball had its fifth scholarship player enter the transfer portal Monday night. James Rojas has put his name in the portal, according to reports

Rojas played in 17 games in 2021-22 after returning from an ACL injury in January. He averaged 5.4 points over those 17 games. Rojas started three of those – Georgia, Baylor, and South Carolina.

He came to Alabama from Hutchinson Community College ahead of the 2019-20 season, but he suffered a torn ACL before play started. Rojas went on to play in 30 games in 2020-21 and averaged 2.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 11.1 minutes.

He tore his ACL in June 2021, delaying his debut in the 2021-22 season.

He joins scholarship players Juwan Gary, Jusaun Holt, Alex Tchikou and Keon Ambrose-Hylton in the transfer portal. Britton Johnson and Jaden Quinerly, both walk-ons, also put their names in the portal this offseason.

Alabama basketball is expected to have a much different roster in 2022-23 with Jaden Shackelford and Keon Ellis signing with agents ahead of the NBA draft and  freshman JD Davison potentially joining them in going pro. Starting point guard Javhon Quinerly also could go pro, but his torn ACL has made his status unclear.

Alabama is adding plenty of talent. Nate Oats is set to bring in five signees who make up the No. 3 class in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite. Alabama also added coveted Ohio transfer Mark Sears via the portal.
