Alabama basketball's schedule for 2022-23 continued to take shape Thursday.

Matchups with Gonzaga and Oklahoma became official, as the Knight Eady foundation and SEC/Big 12 announced the games and dates, respectively.

The Crimson Tide is set to face the Bulldogs on Dec. 17 at Legacy Arena in Birmingham as part of the second annual C.M. Newton Classic. Then, Alabama will travel to Norman, Oklahoma, to face the Sooners on Jan. 28, 2023 as part of the Big 12/SEC challenge.

In the first year of the C.M. Newton Classic, Alabama lost 79-78 to Davison. This season's opponent, Gonzaga, faced Alabama in a neutral site game in Seattle in December 2021. That victory was one of the high points for the season. Alabama defeated Gonzaga 91-82.

LOOKING BACK:Here's how Alabama athletics fared against every SEC school in 2021-22 sports year

“We are looking forward to making the trip to Birmingham and playing a high-caliber opponent in Alabama," Gonzaga coach Mark Few said in a release announcing the game. "We have the utmost respect for Coach Oats and his program. We’re also excited to play in an event that honors a hall of famer in C.M. Newton, a man that had tremendous integrity and influenced the game greatly."

Alabama coach Nate Oats said i he's looking forward to playing in front of fans in Birmingham again as well as honoring Newton, who coached the Crimson Tide for 12 seasons, starting in 1968-69.

And in the matchup, it will face the Bulldogs, who reached the Sweet 16 in 2022.

"For a program such as Gonzaga, who is consistently one of the top programs in the nation each year, to come to the south and play us is going to be very exciting for our fans and our team," Oats said. "We can’t wait for what I expect to be another electric atmosphere in Legacy Arena.”

Then in January, Alabama will face Oklahoma. The two teams last played on Jan. 30, 2021, when the Sooners defeated the Crimson Tide 66-61 in Norman. In 2018, Alabama beat Oklahoma 90-73 at home.
