NBA mock draft 2022: Where could Alabama basketball's JD Davison, Keon Ellis be selected?

The 2022 NBA draft is almost here, and Alabama basketball aims to have two players selected for a second consecutive year.

It's not likely but it's also not impossible.

Guards JD Davison and Keon Ellis each have a shot to have their names called when the draft is held at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The draft will be televised on ABC and ESPN.

Ellis and Davison would likely be picked in the second round. Most prospect rankings have Ellis and Davison on the edge of the top 58 picks. Usually, there are 60 picks but two teams had to forfeit picks because of tampering violations.

If Ellis or Davison can sneak into the two rounds of the draft, the Crimson Tide will have had at least one player drafted in each of the past three drafts. Joshua Primo (2021), Herb Jones (2021) and Kira Lewis Jr. (2020) were the most recent Alabama players selected.

Alabama guard Jaden Shackelford also entered the draft, but he is much more unlikely to hear his name called than Ellis and Davison. Shackelford didn't receive an NBA draft combine invite while Ellis and Davison did.

Shackelford also was not listed in most of the prospect rankings, other than being No. 93 on Sports Illustrated's list.

Here's a look at where some outlets have Ellis and Davison ranked as prospects and where they have been selected in recent mock drafts.
