Alabama basketball picks up Latrell Wrightsell Jr. from transfer portal
Alabama basketball has picked up a committment from Latrell Wrightsell Jr., a former Cal State Fullerton guard via the transfer portal.
Wrightsell posted a graphic Sunday on Twitter with the caption "Roll Tide."
Wrightsell averaged 16.3 points per game last season while adding 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists. He shot 42.9% from the field and 38% from 3-point range. He earned first-team All-Big West honors.
It is the second transfer commit for coach Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide in as many days. Aaron Estrada, a former Hofstra guard, committed Saturday. They join former Wichita State guard Jaykwon Walton, who committed in late March.
At guard, they will join Davin Cosby Jr., who enrolled early this year but did not see game time, and Rylan Griffen, who has not indicated he will be departing. Veteran guards Jahvon Quinerly and Mark Sears did enter the NBA draft but retained their NCAA eligibility.
Alabama guards Jaden Bradley and Nimari Burnett entered the transfer portal, opening up scholarships for players such as Estrada and Wrightsell.
The Crimson Tide won the SEC regular-season title and SEC Tournament before earning a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. It fell to San Diego State in the Sweet 16, the second trip to that round for Oats in the past three seasons.
