Alabama football lands Justice Haynes, son of former Georgia running back
Alabama football bolstered its 2023 recruiting class Sunday with one of the top running backs in the country.
Justice Haynes announced on social media he has committed to the Crimson Tide. He's a four-star running back from Buford, Georgia, and ranked No. 4 in the country in the 247Sports Composite.
Haynes is the son of Verron Haynes, who played for the Bulldogs before playing in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Falcons from 2002 through 2009.
"Every man has their path 2 walk & I’m proud of U for choosin your own," Verron Haynes wrote on Twitter. "I know the process may have been long & difficult but at the end I’m confident U made the best decision for U. Here’s to your future and all you’ll become. To the next level. To be continued.. Roll Tide!"
Haynes gives Alabama 12 commitments for the 2023 class and the No. 11 spot in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings. Each of the teams ranked in the top 10 have 14 or more commits. Ohio State, which was another finalist for Haynes, holds the No. 1 spot as of Sunday with 19 commits.
Haynes is the first running back in the class for Alabama. Crimson Tide running backs coach Robert Gillespie is listed as his primary recruiter. Alabama has had recent success landing recruits from Haynes' school, Buford High. In the 2022 cycle, the Crimson Tide signed defensive back Jake Pope and receiver Isaiah Bond.
The addition of Haynes comes after the Crimson Tide added two of the top running backs in the 2022 class -- No. 2-rated Emmanuel Henderson and No. 6 Jamarion Miller. Both are now on Alabama's roster.
Alabama also has running backs Jahmyr Gibbs, Trey Sanders, Jase McClellan and Roydell Williams on the roster.
