Alabama football has no more claims to No. 1 ranking

Alabama football is no longer the top team in either major poll.

A week after Georgia jumped over the Crimson Tide for the top spot in the AP Top 25, Alabama has moved to No. 2 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll. The Crimson Tide remained No. 2 in the AP poll this week, too.

Both teams are 3-0.

Alabama is fresh off a 63-7 victory over Louisiana Monroe. Georgia dominated South Carolina 48-7 on Saturday as Brock Bowers caught two touchdowns.

The Bulldogs hadn't given up a touchdown until the game against the Gamecocks. Georgia also beat No. 18 Oregon 49-3 and Samford 33-0.

Alabama also has wins over Utah State 55-0 and No. 19 Texas 20-19.

The Crimson Tide will begin SEC play this week with a game against Vanderbilt (3-1) at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday, (6:30 p.m. CT, SEC Network). Alabama has its next big game against a ranked opponent the following week with a trip to Fayetteville, Arkansas to face the No. 10 Razorbacks.

Georgia isn't likely to be moved from the top spot any time soon. The Bulldogs face Kent State, Missouri, Auburn and Vanderbilt over its next four games. None are expected to be much of a test for Georgia.
