Alabama football kicker Will Reichard returning for 2023
Change of plans. Alabama football is going to have Will Reichard back for the 2023 season.
The kicker announced Tuesday he will return for a fifth year after originally accepting his invite to the Senior Bowl.
Reichard is the Crimson Tide's all-time scoring leader with 426 points.
"After much prayer and guidance, I realized that I wasn't ready to step away from Alabama football and the college experience," Reichard wrote. "I have decided to take advantage of my final year of eligibility and tee it up with my Crimson Tide teammates one more time in 2023. I can't wait to get back to work as we build toward the 2023 season. Thanks, and Roll Tide!"
Reichard has already had a historic career for the Crimson Tide and will have a chance to add to it even more in 2023. The Hoover native has made 62 of 75 field goal attempts (83%) and only missed two extra points on 242 tries.
This past season, Reichard kicked 22 of 26 field goals with a long of 52. He also made all 64 extra points.
Two seasons ago, when the Crimson Tide won a College Football Playoff Championship, Reichard did not miss a field goal or an extra point.
“Will has been a consistent performer for us for several years now," coach Nick Saban said in September. "I mean, I’ve never been around a guy that had a perfect season as a kicker. Never ever missed an extra point, never missed a field goal."
With Reichard returning, that leaves 13 starters who have either declared for the NFL Draft or accepted Senior Bowl invites so far. Five of those are juniors who are declaring early while the rest are seniors who have accepted those Senior Bowl invitations.
