Nick Saban has added yet another veteran coach to the Alabama football staff.

Ken Whisenhunt is listed in the staff directory as a special assistant to the head coach. He most recently was an offensive analyst for Penn State the past two seasons, but he has extensive experience in the NFL.

Whisenhunt has been head coach of the Tennessee Tians and Arizona Cardinals. He's also been offensive coordinator for the Chargers and Steelers. Prior to those bigger roles in the NFL, Whisenhunt was a position coach working with the tight ends in Cleveland and Baltimore as well as in the college ranks at Vanderbilt. He also has coached some with special teams at the New York Jets and Vanderbilt.

Whisenhunt won a Super Bowl with the Steelers in 2005 as an assistant coach, coordinating the offense.

He's a Georgia native who played for Georgia Tech.

Working for Alabama, Whisenhunt joins a group of special assistants to Saban that includes Joe Pendry, Todd Watson and Sal Sunseri, who is listed as senior special assistant to the head coach.
