Jackson State football recruiting: Deion Sanders lands 2 commitments, transfer Saturday
A fresh trio have joined first-year coach Deion Sanders at Jackson State.
On Saturday, Greyson Thompson, JD Martin and Aalah Brown announced they were joining the Tigers on social media.
Brown is a three-star wide receiver out of Valdosta High in Valdosta, Georgia, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. The senior committed to JSU over programs like Georgia Tech and Cincinnati. He becomes the second wide receiver in the 2021 class, joining four-star commit Trevonte Rucker.
Martin is an athlete prospect from East Central Community College in Decatur. In nine games at East Central, he had 145 carries for 858 yards and five touchdowns. The Wetumpka, Alabama native was a three-star recruit, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, and a former Florida Atlantic commit.
Thompson is a quarterback transfer from North Texas. He did not play as a true freshman this past season. As a high school senior, the Denton, Texas native completed 62.5% of his passes for 3,089 yards and 35 touchdowns. On the ground, he rushed for 107 yards and seven touchdowns, leading Braswell to a program-best 9-3 record.
Current JSU players are back on campus this semester and have recently started practice. The Southwestern Athletic Conference decided to postpone all fall sports to the spring due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. The Tigers open up their season at home Feb. 21 against Edward Waters.
