UL has picked up a fresh recruiting commitment from Dontae Fleming, a Class of 2020 receiver from East St. John High in Reserve.

Tweeted Fleming on Friday:

“First of all I would like to thank God for giving me the talent to play the game of football. Next, I would to thank my parents for making sacrifices that put me in the position to succeed in life.

“I would like to thank my coaches for pushing me everyday to be the best player I could be, on and off the field. … With that being said, I am taking my talents to THE University of Louisiana.”

UL has picked up a fresh recruiting commitment from Dontae Fleming, a Class of 2020 receiver from East St. John High in Reserve.

The non-binding pledge cannot be formalized until the NCAA's early signing period opens in December.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Fleming also picked up offers from Memphis, fellow Sun Belt Conference-member UL Monroe, Southeastern Louisiana, Lamar and Alcorn State – all since early May.

He visited Memphis earlier this month, and received his first offer from the Cajuns in April.

An all-district receiver and also an all-district outfielder for the East St. John baseball team, Fleming becomes UL’s fourth known Class of 2020 high school commit, joining Jesuit High defensive lineman Sonny Hazard, Thibodaux High receiver Kyle Lacy and Northwood High offensive lineman Cory Marshall.

Two junior-college transfers also this week announced, via Twitter, plans to join the Cajuns.

Tweeted Cassius Allen, a receiver from Northeast Oklahoma A&M: “Everything that came my way was earned! … I will be spending my next four years at … (accompanied by a photo in a UL uniform) … 100% COMMITTED.”

Allen also had offers from Buffalo and Toledo of the MAC, according to Rivals.com.

Tweeted Navarro (Texas) College safety Mekhi Williams-Garner, a former Texas Tech commit who decommitted from the Red Raiders coming out of his Texas high school: “Blessed to be in this Position to call this my new home for the next 3 years (accompanied by a photo in a UL uniform).”

It wasn’t immediately clear when Allen and Williams-Garner are coming to UL and what their scholarship situations are.

St. Thomas More High sophomore-to-be quarterback Walker Howard, who received his first offer from the Cajuns last month, has picked up at least three new offers since Wednesday — one each from Tulane, Nebraska and LSU.

Howard’s father Jamie is a former LSU quarterback.
