Tennessee quarterback J.T. Shrout made his first career start against UAB on Saturday.

He was announced as the starter during warm-ups and took the first snap on the Vols' first drive.

The Vols kicked a field goal on the drive to take a 3-0 lead.

Shrout was announced as Tennessee's starter last week against South Carolina, but wide receiver Jauan Jennings took the first snap at quarterback, giving him the start.

Shrout played a significant amount of time against the Gamecocks, completing seven passes for 122 yards and one touchdown in the 41-21 win.

The Vols will also have freshman Brian Maurer and junior Jarrett Guarantano available, with both likely to see some time.

Guarantano entered into the game at quarterback in Tennessee's second drive.
