Tennessee football gains commitment from speedy running back in 2021 recruiting class
Tennessee has added another running back commitment to its 2021 recruiting class.
Three-star prospect Jaylen Wright announced his pledge to the Vols on Monday.
"First thing first I would like to thank god for this whole recruiting process and the (ability) he gave me to be athletic and be the student athlete I am," Wright wrote on Twitter. "After a long talk with my family I have decided to commit to the (U)niversity of Tennessee."
The 5-foot-11, 187-pound Wright, from Southern Durham High School in Durham, North Carolina, joins three-star prospect Elijah Howard as running back commitments in this class.
Wright chose Tennessee over Arizona State, Miami, Rutgers and Syracuse. He's also a track standout who won North Carolina's Class 3A state championship in the indoor 55-meter dash in 2019. He clocked a state-record time of 6.35 seconds.
Wright rushed for 901 yards on just 89 carries during his junior season, according to MaxPreps.
