QB Kasim Hill plans to transfer from Tennessee football
Tennessee quarterback Kasim Hill plans to transfer, a team spokesman confirmed Monday.
Hill sat out last season after transferring to UT from Maryland. A former four-star recruit from St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C., he joined Tennessee as a walk-on.
Hill started the first 10 games of the 2018 season for the Terrapins before suffering a torn ACL.
Hill will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Coach Jeremy Pruitt said after Tennessee's first spring practice in March that he considered Hill part of a six-man competition for the quarterback job.
The Vols have five scholarship quarterbacks on their roster, and Hill faced a challenging path to improving his spot on the depth chart.
Jarrett Guarantano is a 25-game starter and the favorite to retain the job. Sophomores Brian Maurer and J.T. Shrout also have starting experience. Harrison Bailey and Jimmy Holiday are freshmen.
