The Alabama vs. LSU football rivalry game is back on, as SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey continues to play matchmaker.

The conference announced another schedule reconstruction on Friday that will allow No. 1 Alabama to play LSU on Dec. 5 (7 p.m. CT, CBS) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

That game had originally been scheduled for Nov. 14, but it was postponed because of COVID-19 issues within LSU's program and it was not immediately rescheduled.

The strong likelihood of the game being rescheduled for Dec. 15 was reported on Nov. 13.

This will mark the 85th meeting between Alabama and LSU. LSU and Alabama have met in December only twice. Alabama beat the Tigers, 13-0, in Birmingham on Dec. 8, 1928. The Tide also beat LSU, 11-0, on Dec. 1, 1904, in Baton Rouge.

The Razorbacks now will play at Missouri on Dec. 5, in a makeup of a game originally scheduled for Saturday.

Here is the Dec. 5 slate:

  • Alabama at LSU (rescheduled from Nov. 14)
  • Arkansas at Missouri (rescheduled from Nov. 28)
  • Florida at Tennessee
  • South Carolina at Kentucky
  • Texas A&M at Auburn
  • Vanderbilt at Georgia

The schedule for games beyond Dec. 5 remains in flux. This round of schedule adjustment means three games will need to be rescheduled:

  • Alabama at Arkansas
  • Ole Miss at LSU
  • Missouri at Mississippi State

The SEC, earlier this month, gave itself the authority to adjust the schedule up to five days before competition. That came after four games scheduled for Nov. 14 were postponed because of COVID-19 issues within one or both teams.

The SEC Championship remains scheduled for Dec. 19, and Sankey remains committed to that date. The SEC has established that teams that are not competing in the SEC Championship will be allowed to play regular-season games on Dec. 19.
