Vanderbilt baseball coach Tim Corbin signs contract extension with Commodores

Vanderbilt baseball coach Tim Corbin has signed a contract extension, according to a news release released by the university Tuesday.
Corbin, who took over the Commodores in 2002, is entering his 20th season at the helm of the program. He revived a team that had lagged behind in the SEC, building two national championship teams and producing 18 first-round MLB Draft picks. He is a three-time SEC Coach of the Year and has won at least one major national coach of the year award three times.
In 2021, Vanderbilt was the runner-up in the College World Series.
Corbin's contract terms are not publicly known, but university tax return records showed he made $1.2 million in base salary in 2019 with $234,500 in bonuses, making him among the highest-paid coaches in college baseball.
Vanderbilt has made 15 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. Corbin has taken his team to the tournament every season one was held except his first. His 802-377-1 record at Vanderbilt makes him the winningest coach in program history. He holds a 908-515-1 record overall.
“Coach Corbin and the VandyBoys continue to set an example for what is possible to achieve. They have set the bar high for Vanderbilt Athletics,” athletics director Candice Storey Lee said in a statement. “ ... Coach Corbin has forged college baseball’s preeminent program and a team that we are all proud to call our own. The VandyBoys are responsible for some of Commodore Nation’s greatest memories. I appreciate the investment that Tim and his wife, Maggie, have made—and continue to make—in our community. We are steadfast in our commitment to supporting them and the program for years ahead.”
