Football recruiting: Four-star junior QB Ty Simpson's top 10 includes Tennessee, Alabama
On Thursday night, Westview junior four-star quarterback Ty Simpson announced his top 10 college teams via Twitter.
They included Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and UT Martin.
Simpson, who is listed at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, is the No. 43 recruit in the nation in the Class of 2022, according to the 247Sports Composite. He is the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback and No. 2 recruit from the state of Tennessee from the Class of 2022.
Simpson had offers from all 14 Southeastern Conference schools. His first offer came from Jim Harbaugh at Michigan during the summer prior to his freshman season. The offer from Tennessee also came prior to his freshman season.
This season, Simpson helped lead the Chargers to the second round of the Class 3A state playoffs and was named a Mr. Football semifinalist. Westview was 7-5 this season, most wins by the program since 2014.
He completed 124 of 203 passes for 1,888 yards with 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions, while rushing for 311 yards and seven touchdowns. As a sophomore, he threw for t1,770 yards with 18 touchdowns and two interceptions
Simpson's father, Jason Simpson, is the coach at UT Martin.
