Summertown 37, Clarkrange 34: Lady Eagles win TSSAA girls state basketball quarterfinal in OT
MURFREESBORO – Despite only hitting 23% of its shots, Summertown rode its defense to an overtime win in the Class A girls basketball state quarterfinals.
The Lady Eagles beat Clarkrange 37-34 on Wednesday at Murphy Center.
Summertown (28-3) will play North Greene (26-7) Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the semifinals.
Neither team had much luck finding a flow offensively. Summertown shot 9-of-40 from the floor while Clarkrange connected on 31% (13-of-42) of its shots.
Class A Miss Basketball finalist Kassie Monday led all scorers with 16 but was held scoreless in the fourth quarter and overtime.
Rylee Long led Summertown with 11 points while Kaley Campbell added nine points for the Lady Eagles.
After Clarkrange hit a buzzer-beater at the end of the third quarter, Summertown limited the Lady Buffaloes to just one point in the fourth quarter and three in overtime.
