Macon County 49, Covington 34: Jalynn Gregory leads Tigerettes back to semifinals
MURFREESBORO – Macon County is back to where it was a year ago.
Only this year the Tigerettes get a chance to try and finish out the season.
Macon County defeated Covington 49-34 Thursday in the Class AA quarterfinals of the TSSAA BlueCross Girls Basketball Championships held at Middle Tennessee State's Murphy Center.
The win came a year after the Tigerettes reached the 2020 semifinals before the tournament was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Macon County (24-6) will play the winner of the Northview Academy-Creek Wood quarterfinal at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Class AA semifinals. Covington finished its season 25-6 and reached the state tournament for the second time in three years.
MTSU signee Jalynn Gregory, a Miss Basketball finalist scored the first nine points for Macon County and finished with a game-high 21 points. Gregory made two early 3-pointers to kick start the Tigerettes offense. Teammate Saranda Woodson added 12 points and seven rebounds.
Kalynn Howard led Covington with 14 points and hit three 3-pointers.
