Top recruit J.T. Tuimoloau cancels Alabama football visit, eliminates Crimson Tide
Alabama football will turn its focus after the nation's No. 1-ranked recruit in the 2021 class eliminated the Crimson Tide from consideration.
Washington defensive lineman J.T. Tuimoloau canceled his visit to Alabama this weekend after visiting Oregon, 247Sports reported.
"It’s just a feeling I’ve had for a while now and after getting back from my official visit to Oregon, we decided not to take the trip to Alabama," Tuimoloau told 247Sports.
Tuimoloau, 6-foot-5 and 277 pounds, planned visits to Washington, Southern Cal, Ohio State, Oregon and Alabama, in that order. Alabama did not get a chance to see the Eastside Catholic School prospect this year, so Nick Saban and company can turn their attention to the upcoming classes.
"I think I have a pretty good idea of what each of the four schools I’ve visited offer and now I’m going to discuss things as a family and come to a decision," Tuimoloau said.
Alabama has the No. 1-ranked class of 2021 in the nation, above second-place Ohio State, the favorite to land Tuimoloau, according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions.
The Crimson Tide signed 27 players in the class of 2021 and have eight commits in the 2022 class after landing Florida athlete Amari Niblack on Thursday.
Alabama signed four defensive linemen and two edge rushers in the 2021 class, including Damon Payne, the No. 7-ranked defense lineman and No. 23 recruit in the country out of Michigan.
