Why experts believe Caleb Farley could be 'grand slam' for Tennessee Titans

National pundits seem to be pretty high on Tennessee Titans first-round pick Caleb Farley

Farley's selection received generally positive marks on the grading scale. The only thing holding him back from rave reviews is his injury history.

Farley has had two back surgeries in the past year. The first forced him to miss Virginia Tech's last two games, while the most recent came on March 23.

Here's how the pick graded out:

Tennessean's Gentry Estes

Grade: B

The buzz: "It's going to be boom or bust for the Titans with Farley. He probably would have been one of the top picks in this draft if not for concerns about his back issues."

CBS Sports' Pete Prisco

Grade: B-

The buzz: "This is a boom-or-bust pick. If he's healthy, this is a great pick. But injury concerns are real."

Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski

Grade: C

The buzz: "Virginia Tech's Caleb Farley is arguably the best all-around cornerback prospect in the class. He has everything a team wants at the position ... Back concerns only add to the fact that Farley suffered a torn ACL at the onset of his collegiate career."

Sports Illustrated

Grade: B+

The buzz:  "If it all clicks for Farley, he has CB1 traits. The medicals are still concerning. His back problems aren’t going away, and there is a chance he isn’t ready for the start of the upcoming season."

WalterFootball.com's Walter Cherepinsky

Grade: B-

The buzz: "Unfortunately, Farley was one of the riskiest players in this class in regard to health. If he can remain on the field, he'll be a shutdown cornerback for the Titans.

USA Today's Dratwire's Luke Easterling

Grade: A

The buzz: "Obviously, the medicals are the only reason Farley was available this late, but the Titans still made a wise move by stopping his fall here ... He’s a top-10 talent at full strength, so if he’s able to stay healthy, this will be a grand slam pick."

The Ringer's Danny Kelly

Grade: B

The buzz: "This is a high-risk, high-reward pick for the Titans. Farley’s a top-10 talent at cornerback, but after undergoing offseason back surgery (the second surgery he’s had on his back), he comes with obvious durability concerns.
