Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel summoned his inner Carrie Underwood on game-winning kick
Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel has seen a lot of kickers come and go through the locker room in the past three seasons.
Another kicker, Randy Bullock, arrived this week. Bullock was a big part of Sunday's 33-30 Titans victory, making four of five field-goal attempts along with all three extra point attempts. The fourth made field goal was a 36-yard game winner in OT.
Vrabel has seen a lot of kickers, and a few too many misses. What was he thinking as Bullock trotted out and attempted to give the Titans win No. 1 in 2021?
"You're helpless," Vrabel said. "We've all sent our kids out of the house into a car, and Jesus take the wheel, I guess."
Bullock, outside of a missed 44-yarder in the second half, handled a heavy workload well on Sunday in Seattle. Tennessee struggled to turn red zone opportunities into touchdowns in the first three quarters, which made Bullock's kicks important as Tennessee came from 15 points down.
"Obviously extremely happy," Vrabel said about the new placekicker's performance. "Happy for Randy. Randy's been a lot of places, and he's made kicks in this league. Happy for him, that he can get recognized and help his football team win."
