Predators mailbag: Best names in franchise history, the top line and more
You had a few more questions. We spent way too much time looking for some answers.
Last week's mailbag winner was Krystle.
We now owe two people fabulous prizes.
Let's get to it. Here are this week's questions:
Hey, Paul, big fan.
What is your Top 5 ranking of Predators names, and why is Calle Jarnkrok first?
Big fan. You're funny. But you ask an important question, Nick. I love a good name.
Because of that, I'll do you five better and give you a top five plus five. Spoiler alert: Jarnkrok isn't No. 1.
Here they are, in order (feel free to mock me):
1. Brad Bombardir
Remember him? I don't. But I looked it up. He had zero goals and zero assists in 13 games with the Preds in 2003-04.
2. Jordin Tootoo
Cool name. Cool number (22). Franchise favorite. Enough said.
3. Andrew "Bubba" Berenzweig
Sounds like some fancy craft beer.
4. Pontus Aberg
Just sounds important. The only player named Pontus ever to make it to the NHL.
5. Pekka Rinne
Need I say more? Name is so great even a rescue horse in Mt. Juliet was named after him.
6. Vern Fiddler
A Fiddler. In Music City? Too easy.
7. Radek Bonk
Third overall pick by the Senators in the 1994 draft, two-time All-Star.
8. Calle Jarnkrok
So much fun to say. Not so much fun to type.
9. Roman Josi
Name fit for a captain.
10. Vitali Yachmenev
Sounds like a clothing designer. Or the name of a vodka.
How likely is it that Laviolette splits up the JOFA line in an attempt to get more goals from other forward lines?
Breaking up that line would be hard to do. Ryan Johansen, Filip Forsberg and Viktor Arvidsson have combined for 20 goals and 19 assists through 12 games. So, not likely.
Have a feeling the rest of the crew will continue to come around.
After seeing how the Caps used Tom Wilson on the top line, do you think we could use Austin Watson in that role? And who's getting sent down when he returns?
Nope to the first question. We'll see who's doing what on the second. Next question. Wait, there are no more questions. But thanks for yours, IronHook.
