The grandfather of Nashville hockey is now a father.

Predators goalie Pekka Rinne announced in a video released on social media Tuesday the birth of his and his girlfriend Erika Parkko's first baby, a boy they named Paulus Oliver Rinne.

The 38-year-old Rinne shared the news in a video in which he thanked people for contributing to the 365 Fund. Rinne panned the camera from himself to show the baby sleeping and his dog Pabla nearby.

"I have an extra announcement," Rinne said in the video. "The newest member of the Preds family."

"He's awesome. "Everything is going well. He's adjusting, we are adjusting and the big sister (dog) is on duty right here.

Rinne said he and Parkko returned home from the hospital with the baby a few days ago.

Rinne is one of several Predators who has had a child or is expecting one. Matt Duchene and his wife Ashley had a baby girl in November. Roman Josi and his wife Ellie are expecting their first, a boy due on Valentines Day. Mattias Ekholm and his wife Ida also are expecting, along with Calle Jarnkrok and his wife and Viktor Arvidsson and his wife. Austin Watson, who was traded to the Senators, and his girlfriend also are expecting.
