HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Senior Kenzie Wright finished sixth in the individual standings, and the Alabama women’s golf team finished 13th in the team standings as play in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at the Long Cove Club closed Sunday.
The Crimson Tide shot a 907 (311-299-297) over the 54-hole tournament that featured 17 teams all ranked in the Top-40 in the nation.
No. 7 Wake Forest (287-288-280/855) won the team title, while No. 19 Auburn (294-298-289/881) finished runner-up.
Wright earned her third top-10 finish of the spring as she finished the tournament 4-over par 217 (78-67-72) to place sixth. The senior led the 90-player field with 11 birdies and had the second-best par three scoring average (2.92, -1).
Junior Polly Mack had the best round of the day for the Crimson Tide with her 1-under par 70, her lowest round of the tournament. Mack (79-76-70/225) jumped up 21 spots to finish the three-day event tied for 37th.
Junior Angelica Moresco shot even par on her first seven holes of play to finish Sunday’s round 3-over par 74 for 62ndplace (79-79-74/232).
Freshman Emilie Øverås (78-78-81/237) finished tied for 75thon the challenging 6,266-yard, par-71 Pete Dye Course at Long Cove Club.
Freshman Caroline Curtis (76-78-91/245) rounds out the Tide golfers tied for 86thplace, respectively.
Alabama travels to Athens, Georgia, for the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on March 20.
