There is no question Duke coach David Cutcliffe knows what he’s doing when it comes to developing quarterbacks. His resume speaks for itself — Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Heath Shuler and last year’s No. 6 overall NFL Draft pick Daniel Jones.
Alabama coach Nick Saban has seen a lot of film the past two weeks of Cutcliffe’s work as the Crimson Tide gets ready to play Duke on Saturday in Atlanta.
“I’ve always thought he’s one of the best quarterback coaches in the country,” Saban said. “Obviously his track record has proven that. I think he has that reputation, and players are interested in playing for him, and he’s done a fabulous job of developing those players. I also think their schemes on offense are so well conceived it gives all players on offense a chance to be successful.”
