VESTAVIA HILLS – The Alabama men’s golf team finished play at the 2019 Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate on Tuesday, closing the two-day, 54-hole event with a team total of 27-over par 867 (293-281-293) to place ninth. Junior Wilson Furr led the Crimson Tide with a 22nd-place individual finish after he carded a final round of 1-under par 69 during Tuesday’s final round of play.

Colorado State and BYU were named co-champions after the two teams tied for first overall with scores of 17-under 823.

Furr’s 22nd-place finished was the result of a three-round total of 2-over par 212 (72-71-69). His final round of 1-under 69 tied for the team’s lowest 18-hole score of the tournament, matching Prescott Butler’s second round 69.

Freshman Simms Abney placed 34th with a 218 (72-70-76), while Butler was one spot back in 35th at 219 (74-69-76). Sophomore Frankie Capan III tied for 36th with a 10-over par 220 (76-71-74) to give UA four inside the top-40 individuals

Junior Jake DeZoort of Tuscaloosa rounded out the Tide’s starting five with a 223 (76-73-74) to finish tied for 43rd.
