BIRMINGHAM – Senior guard Cierra Johnson was voted by the Southeastern Conference coaches to the Preseason All-SEC Second Team, the conference office announced Tuesday. Johnson is the first Crimson Tide player since Ericka Russell in 2011 to be named to a SEC Preseason Team.

Last season Johnson led the Tide in points per game (14.7), assists per game (3.1) and steals per game (1.3), while notching three double-doubles in her first year with the program. Johnson scored 457 points on the season which is the most by an Alabama player since 2010-11 and became the second player to score 450-plus points since the 1999-00 season. Her 14.7 points per contest were good enough for 14th in the conference.

The 2018 NJCAA Player of the Year also scored in double-figures in 25 of 31 games, including putting up 20-plus points in six contests. In addition, she was named to the 2018 Florida Sunshine Classic All-Tournament Team and the 2018 Arizona State Classic All-Tournament Team.
