TAMPA, Fla. – The Alabama women’s tennis team topped the USF Bulls in a 7-0 shutout Sunday in Tampa, Fla., moving to 9-1 on the 2020 season.
In doubles play, No. 56 Moka Ito and Isabella Harvison moved to 6-1 in dual match season at the No. 1 lineup spot. In the No. 2 spot, Alba Cortina Pou and Sasha Gorchanyuk also moved to a 6-1 record. Alabama took a 1-0 advantage after two quick doubles wins. Cortina Pou/Gorchanyuk topped Eland/Perello, 6-3. No. 56 Ito/Harvison earned the victory over Boy/Mjos, 6-4.
In singles, Ito and Fabian earned individual victories in straight sets. Cortina Pou clinched the match for the Tide, moving to 9-0 on the season with a 6-4, 6-3 win. After dropping the first set, Harvison bounced back to win the match, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. Ann Selim outlasted her opponent with a 6-3, 7-5 victory and Ares Teixido won by default in the third set due to a retired player for the Bulls.
Alabama will compete in the 72nd Annual Blue Gray National Tennis Classic in Montgomery on Friday and Saturday.
